Harvey opens new concept store in Hungerford

Independent retailer, Terry Harvey has opened the first in a series of new From the Heart stores in Hungerford, Berkshire.

The new store also features the first shop-in-shop concept from House of Sarunds featuring Belgian chocolatier, Pralibel.

With a prominent corner plot in Hungerford high street and a main Tesco store behind, the 2,500 sq store is perfectly placed to drive footfall and sales.

The store was officially opened by UK Greeting's director of sales for independents, Tony Roberts (pictured), ably assisted by From the Heart's stores director, Jane Chandler and Terry Harvey.

Shopfit was carried out by Terry Harvey's own team with units from Axiom and Apple and EPoS from Cybertill. The clean , comtemporary lines and colour scheme of the Pralibel chocolate area occupies the entire rear quarter of the store. Cards are from UKG's New Model Line with selected lines from the likes of Tracks, Urban Graphics and Five Dollar Shake amongst others. Plush is from Rainbow Designs and Carte Blanche alongside stationery from Blueprint Productions. Gift lines also have a strong offer instore.

"We've got five stores now and Hungerford is the first of a batch of ten new stores we will roll out over the next 24 months, all themed around a similar concept," Harvey told GT. "We're looking at a series of locations across the south of England and should open at least two stores next year, depending on how the negotiations go. It's a good time to be making a push because there are deals to be done. We've had some good figures for the opening weekend at Hungerford with a very strong showing from Pralibel. We've caused a bit of a stir with local retailers too, which is a sign we are doing something right."

GT will be taking an in-depth look at the new From The Heart concept in the February issue.
