Gold standard at Spring Fair

Spring Fair International 2011 entered into the Olympic spirit with appearances from gold-winning athletes.

The Olympians were present to help unveil the latest selection of official London 2012 merchandise from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).

Television sports presenter Clare Balding attended the show on Monday February 7 and gold-winning triple-jumper Johnathan Edwards was present on Tuesday.

Olympic legend and chair of LOCOG, Lord Coe, completed the line-up today (Wednesday).

Contributing approximately £80 million to the cost of staging the Games, the selection includes over 10,000 consumer products with something for fans of every age. Ranging from mascot bedding, children's annuals plus '100 greatest Olympians and paralympians' books, collectables from childhood favourites 'Hornby', exclusive coins such as 50p's from the Royal Mint and even scooters.

The products are currently available at official London 2012 retailers, online and at John Lewis Oxford Street, with wide distribution soon to follow across the UK High Street. Team GB and ParalympicGB merchandise will also be launched for the first time ever this autumn.

Lord Coe commented: "There are now so many fantastic products available to the public and ways in which they can get involved with London 2012. Purchasing some of the official merchandise offers the public an exciting opportunity to take a piece of the Games home with them as well as help support TeamGB athletes.

"There is so much on offer, with products to suit everyone from all ages no matter what your sporting preference is. Just as the athletes are getting ready for the London 2012, the UK retail industry should be warming up to be part of a fantastic summer of 2012."
