Coffee is on the cards

Some closed Clinton’s stores set to become cafes

CLOSED-down Clinton Cards shops look set to get a new lease of life as upmarket coffee houses thanks to Tesco.

The supermarket giant is the minority partner in the Harris+Hoole joint venture with Taylor Street, which has eight coffee shops in London.
Retail Week is reporting that the first store, described by Taylor Street founder Nick Tolley as “an artisan high-quality coffee venture” will open in Amersham, Bucks, later this month and the second in Uxbridge shortly afterwards.
Harris+Hoole is in talks with Clinton’s administrator Zolfo Cooper to buy 10 to 15 stores which should provide some new job opportunities for staff made redundant when the 330 shops not bought by American Greetings were shut.
