Record £469m sales

Messe Frankfurt continue to grow with 132 trade shows worldwide

PAPERWORLD organisers Messe Frankfurt Group have reported record sales of £469million (€645m) from their trade show operations around the world.

The company, who have their own exhibition grounds in their home city of Frankfurt in Germany, are continuing to grow with 132 trade fairs and exhibitions worldwide, playing host to around 89,900 companies and more than four million visitors, their highest number yet.
Presenting the group’s preliminary key figures for 2015, Messe Frankfurt President and CEO Wolfgang Marzin summed up: “We expect to generate sales of around €645m (£469m) – a new record for our company.”
He added that earnings before tax will be well over the £29m (€40m) mark but expect the result to be as high as last year’s £34m (€47m) with current EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) at £71m (€98m) and consolidated annual net income will again be more than £21.7m (€30m).
By the end of the year Messe Frankfurt, who have Paperworld and Christmasworld running at their showgrounds from January 30 to February 2 with Creativeworld opening a day earlier, will have 2,297 active employees.
A total of 86 events were held outside Germany, setting new records with around 48,000 exhibitors and over 1.7 million visitors.
Wolfgang added: “By expanding business substantially in our relevant growth markets, we now generate 38 per cent of our sales revenue outside Germany.”
As home to their flagship events including Ambiente and Tendence, Frankfurt remains the permanent base for the company’s international event management and they are currently preparing for the construction of Hall 12 on the showgrounds.
Wolfgang concluded: “With a very solid starting position and a strategic company orientation geared towards the long term, we are well equipped for the future and we will continue to concentrate on what makes us successful.”
