Celebrating £90,000

Midsummer event raises cash for retail charity

A FANTASTIC £90,000 has been raised by the RetailTrust’s first Midsummer Celebration, which was held on Wednesday at Manchester Cathedral.

Formerly the Great Northern Ball, the event brought together almost 250 new and loyal supporters of the trust to show their support and generosity for their industry and to all who dedicate their lives to it.
Sponsored by Pets At Home, Kenneth Green Associates and Squire Patton Boggs, the purpose of the evening was to raise vital funds for the 183-year-old charity, as well as raising awareness of the RetailTrust and their key programmes – the youth training scheme RetailRight and the RetailCure credit union, both lauded by Chief Executive Richard Boland in his speech.
Guests also saw videos from both programmes, highlighting the positive impact RetailTrust is having on the wider retail community. Presenters during the evening included Celebration committee chair Anne Latham, store manager of House Of Fraser, Manchester.
Guests were treated to a champagne reception, dinner and live entertainment from Lettice Rowbotham, Abandoman and DJ Benny Blanco, and the popular Silent Auction and Grand Auction raised £90,000.
Richard said “We have enjoyed a great night. The venue is absolutely stunning, and the northern retail sector should be very proud of its generosity and support this evening. We’d like to express many thanks to all those involved in this wonderful Celebration.”
