Something for everyone

14 sectors at Spring Fair to cover entire UK gift, greetings and home market

THOUSANDS of exhibitors, the latest trends, unique insights, awards presentations and new show sectors are all part of the exciting programme offering something for everyone at Spring Fair 2017.

The show, organised by Ascential, returns to Birmingham’s NEC from Sunday to Thursday, February 5-9, with a new DIY & Home Improvement section among the 14 sectors on offer plus appearances from high-profile keynote speakers including retail guru Mary Portas and The Apprentice star Baroness Karren Brady.
Despite the challenging times stemming from the Brexit vote and US elections, retail has proved itself to be one of the most resilient sectors. According to the Office of National Statistics, the quantity bought in the retail industry in October 2016 increased by 7.4 per cent compared to the same month a year ago – the largest year-on-year growth since April 2002.
Spring Fair will provide a plethora of opportunities for buyers across multiples, independents and online retailers, to source and learn about new products, solutions, and the latest consumer trends.
Complementing the 2,500-plus exhibitors, the immensely valuable Meet The Expert sessions will return, this year including new masterclasses from the interior design expert Martin Holland on store design. Independent retailers will be able to book one-on-one sessions with industry leaders and ask for advice on any challenges they’re currently facing.
Meanwhile, the event will help independent retailers and buyers from the larger stores easily source new suppliers from specific geographical regions around the world. The Department of International Trade will host 30 UK exhibitors with an invested interest in exporting as well as 70 international buyers, while there will be more suppliers participating in Spring Fair from outside the UK than ever before.
There are 14 sectors on offer to cover the entire UK gift and home market:
Body & Bath
Chilldren’s Gifts, Toys & Gadgets
Christmas Gifts, Floral & Seasonal Decorations
Contemporary Gift

Fashion Jewellery, Accessories & Luggage

This year sees the launch of The Spring Appointment Planner – a brand-new business matchmaking service that will be available, free of charge, to help visitors and exhibitors set up exclusive one-to-one meetings in the months leading up to the show.
For the first time, a DIY & Home Improvement sector will be in Hall 10, opening on Saturday, February 4, alongside the Volume Halls.
The greeting cards sector has experienced significant change in recent years as traditional publishers have evolved, extending their portfolios to include many more products from stationery and accessories to home fragrance.
According to the Greeting Card Association report, the public spent more on cards than ever in 2015, taking the market value to £1.7billion.
New to the Greetings & Gift sector in Hall 3 will be The Debut Area, supported by the GCA and featuring 24 of their small member publishers who will be making their debut at Spring Fair to give visitors the chance to learn about never-seen-before companies.
Celebrating their 20th anniversary The Art File, who originally launched at Spring Fair in 1997, will be showcasing their ranges, while Really Good Cards mark their 30th year in 2017 and Soul have been going for two decades too.
