Top Drawer announce contest for emerging brands launchpad

TOP Drawer has launched the new Spotted Awards for the S/S18 edition of the design-led trade show, boosting the appeal of the showcase for emerging brands.

To date Spotted, curated by Charlotte Abrahams, has supported more than 150 new businesses and is firmly established as one the main attractions at Top Drawer, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday, January 14-16, at London’s Olympia.
Spotted is a curated showcase of innovative, market ready, design-led businesses new to the major UK trade fair market.
All 49 new brands accepted into the January 2018 edition of Spotted are eligible and will be judged by a panel of industry experts – Charles Gladstone, founder of Pedlars and The Good Life Festival; Annabelle Dodds, senior buyer at the V&A; designer Ella Doran; Hannah Thistlethwaite, Heal’s buyer; Geraldine James, buying manager at Selfridges; Top Drawer show director Alejandra Campos, and Charlotte.
Entries will be judged on originality and innovation, commercial viability, clarity of brand and communication of message and the overall quality of their products, with prizes for the winner and two runners up being announces on the opening morning of the show on January 14.
“The Spotted Awards will add an extra dimension to this vibrant showcase,” Alejandra said, “and is a wonderful way to celebrate the talented emerging brands who show at Spotted.”
Spotted was established to help emerging brands at a crucial stage in their development and the winner will receive a complimentary stand at Top Drawer A/W18, and the opportunity to showcase at Pedlars and/or a stall at The Good Life Festival 2018.
Along with two finalists they will also receive mentoring from experts including designer Nick Munro, Sainsbury’s head of design Andrew Tanner, Heal’s buyer Hannah Thistlethwaite, AIM Brands owner Daniel Flower, and Sharon Good, director of Good Results PR.
