LaunchPad competition open for entries

London Stationery Show organisers set for biggest specialist trade show yet

NEW features, a great speaker line up, plenty of hands-on opportunities and a bumper exhibitor and brand line-up are on the cards for the 2018 London Stationery Show – and the LaunchPad competition is also now open for entries.

Running over Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24-25, at the Business Design Centre in London, this will mark the show’s eighth year and the Ocean Media organising team, led by event manager Hazel Fieldwick, are currently finalising the details of what promises to be the UK’s biggest specialist retail stationery trade show to date.
On target to top the 145-exhibitor line-up from 2017, taking in hundreds of brands, the search is now on for up to 12 individuals and companies to support them in their efforts to break into the growing stationery industry.
Back for its third edition, they organisers want to hear of the new ideas and services by the LaunchPad closing date of February 9, the entry form can be found at www.stationeryshow.co.uk.
Hazel said: “This is an opportunity to encourage new blood into stationery. There are plenty of opportunities for those with innovative ideas and enthusiasm.
“Our two trade shows in London and Manchester are currently the only dates in the stationery industry calendar where so many key suppliers and retailers come together, so are the perfect platform for this type of initiative. We’re looking forward to reviewing all the entries.”
The London show will feature two previous LaunchPad winners who the show team felt deserved further support – Frankfurt-based My Pretty Circus, a wrap and writing company run by Maythe Stavermann, and Rani Moochhala’s luxury giftwrap suppliers Paper Mirchi, who launched their range at the Manchester Stationery Show and have just been shortlisted for the Gift Of The Year 2018 awards.
LaunchPad is open to any company or individual who have not exhibition at either the London or Manchester shows before, has the rights to sell the featured product, range or service, and does not currently sell it through any UK national retail accounts or distributors in the stationery retail sector.
Prizes include a free display space at the show and the opportunity to enter the Stationery Awards 2018, with all winners being exposed to the UK’s leading retailers and suppliers visiting the show as well as PR and marketing support from the London Stationery Show team.
The 2018 show will include the industry’s premier new stationery product awards, an engaging Creative Stationery workshop area, two days of live talks and presentations for retailers, plus a brand-new On Trend display area and Trend Tours of the fair for visitors run by trend forecasting agency Scarlet Opus.
Hazel said: “We’re introducing some great initiatives this year – which includes a special pre-show briefing session in January for exhibitors and any other suppliers interested in taking part in our workshops and On Trend initiative, or just finding out more about the show and who visits.
“Since the show started in 2011 it has changed tremendously, moving from office products to retail and design-led stationery so, if suppliers haven’t exhibited or visited for some time, we urge them to come along and find out what’s changed and more about our plans for 2018.”
Any suppliers who’d like to find out more about the show’s plans for this year are welcome to attend the briefing, which will be held on January 10 at the Business Design Centre. Call 020 7772 8417 or email zoe.chinery@stationeryshow.co.uk for details.
