Show kicks off Scots season

New layout and enhanced features to make navigating and ordering better for buyers

KICKING off the retail buying season over the border in January is Scotland’s Trade Fair with a new layout and many enhanced features to make navigating and ordering even better for the thousands of shops that visit.

The new block layout at the show, which runs at Glasgow’s SEC from January 21-23, gives greater prominence to the Launch Gallery and Craft Gallery, which are areas that research for organisers Springboard Events has shown are popular with buyers who are consistently looking for new, original products to stock.
The Launch Gallery is for new, young companies including nine greetings and stationery exhibitors, Blue Phoenix Distribution, Curlew Cottage Design, Haven House Art, Highland Celtic Art, Neon Gray, Print Arms, Rachel Meehan, Pictures & Words, TCottee Art, Truly Scotland.
Showcase Scotland, the designated area for Scottish exhibitors, will be located at the front of the show, allowing buyers easier and clearer navigation around the stands.
Springboard Events said independent research has shown Scotland’s Trade Fair is one of the highest-performing trade gifts shows in the UK – and the only one in Scotland – with visitors particularly impressed by the high quality and range of products available.
And the show comes on the back of a steady retail summer season across the border, with Scottish Retail Consortium figures showing retail sales were up in July, and an increase in tourists visiting the country.
Around a quarter of the more than 450 exhibitors at the SEC are new for 2018, with greetings and stationery folk including The Grey Earl, Cardology, Medine Design, The Arty Penguin, Olive & Bell and Brainbox Candy, who join regulars Pigment Productions, Emma Ball, Pink Pig, Sassy Saltire and Woodmansterne, while The Art File have returned for the second year running.
In its new location, the Seminar Theatre will feature talks from experts on selling techniques for independent retailers, social media for business, getting good Trip Advisor reviews, how to become digitally-savvy, Brexit and retail, and a practical look at using video to promote your business.
The Best Product Awards will also be judged on the opening day of the Show, where the winners are known to see a great boost to both sales and social media traffic.
