3 towns to see openings before Christmas as retailers also join Asos’ new gifting category

TYPO are set to more than double their UK store portfolio before Christmas and launch on the Asos platform as they aim to extend their reach in this market.

Retail Week reported today (Wednesday, December 6) that the Australian stationery and gifting retailers plan to open three more stores this month, taking their tally to five, following “unprecedented” online demand.
Bluewater, Cambridge and Bath are set to get the Typo treatment exactly a year after they opened their first UK store in Westfield Stratford City, which was followed by a second at The Bentall Centre in Kingston this summer.
The Cotton On group-owned brand are also launching on Asos as part of the fashion etailer’s new gifting category – a move Typo said signals “commitment to growth” in this market.
They currently operate 200 stores across 13 international markets, and started their UK operations with the stated ambition of opening around 100 stores here over five to 10 years.
Typo UK brand manager Sally Howard told Retail Week: “Since the opening of our Stratford store in December last year, we’ve seen great traction both online and in-store with sales soaring beyond all expectations.
“Our new stores in Bluewater, Cambridge and Bath have been selected based on key areas of growth for us.
“We’ve doubled the number of customers shopping with us online year-on-year, and our increase in online traffic is driving the demand for more stores in key locations that are consistent with where our online customers are located.”
