UKG’s special card is unforgettable

Young Elizabeth’s winning winter design set to raise money for very worthy cause

AT JUST eight, Elizabeth Lee is already helping raise money for a very worthy cause as her unforgettable design is now taking pride of place on a special UK Greetings charity Christmas card.

The Dewsbury-based publishers have supported Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice for some time and decided a festive card competition would be a good way to boost their coffers further as they need to raise £4million each year, with just four per cent coming from the Government.
Katie Dilnot, UKG’s Special Editions business development manager, said: “We’ve supported FMN for a number of years and wanted to explore more opportunities to help them raise funds.”
She said they suggested the contest plan to FMN head of trading Gareth Pierce with the idea that the winning design would be made into a card to be sold in the charity’s stores.
Young Elizabeth’s winter wonderland scene was declared the winner and she was invited to UKG’s offices a couple of weeks ago to see the work that goes into making greetings cards – and receive a very large box of goodies too.
Elizabeth spent time with the creative teams and had a tour of the business, where she learned how her design will be brought to life, and she said: “Wow! It’s so exciting seeing how it all happens. Everyone’s so clever!”
Mum Angela, pictured at UKG with Elizabeth and her four-year-old brother Thomas, added: “She had the most amazing afternoon – Elizabeth felt like a mini celebrity. UKG made one young girl extremely happy and she experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. She couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the afternoon.”
Elizabeth’s cards will go on sale later this year at Forget Me Not House and in their retail stores, with all proceeds going to the charity.
