Kat wraps up licences

Ginny the Coo is the toast of distillery’s new artist gin label

ARTIST Kat Baxter’s floral designs are very popular with Wraptious customers who love her greetings cards and cushions – and now she’s the toast of gin company Kinrara Distillery.

After seeing her designs in a Scottish shop, Kinrara decided she would be the perfect artist to decorate their new Limited Edition Artist Gin.
Kat created a new Highland Cow design – Ginny The Coo – for the brand, incorporating the gin's blend of fruits and botanicals into her illustration.
“Due to the nature of my work,” Kat said, “I discussed with them which botanicals they were thinking of putting in the gin and they were happy for me to work up some ideas using these as inspiration. I also incorporated in their estate tweed.
“I had great fun as it was a new twist in my work, having never drawn fruit in my illustrations before. It was also a challenge creating a design that would work well on a bottle and still look good on a smaller scale, without losing too much of the detail.”
Kat’s work has also drawn the attention of craft company Diamond Dotz, who specialise in Diamond Embroidery where images are transferred on to a special fabric which allows the crafter to build up the picture using tiny delicate gems – like a sparkly paint by numbers.
Diamond Dotz have licensed six of Kat's designs to use worldwide for two years, and have already secured shelf space for the products in US craft giants Michaels.
