Victory laps for PaperAwards winners

Sadler Jones, Curious Department and Hotchpotch earn Top Drawer honours


THE public have voted and they have all been counted – and Sadler Jones, The Curious Department and Hotchpotch Cards have come out top in the latest PaperAwards.

The results were announced late yesterday (Wednesday, January 10) and the trio immediately took to social media to shout about their triumphs read for Sunday's opening of Top Drawer S/S18.
“We won!” the Hotchpotch team of Anna Price and Emma Pearce tweeted, “the Top Drawer PaperAwards in the Exciting Use Of Colour category for our oh-so bright Hello Neon cards and gift dressings. If you need us, you'll find us doing victory laps around the studio!”
Sadler Jones founder Cath Jones said: “So excited to announce we won for Emotive Design – Eeeeeeeeee!” while The Curious Department added: “OMG we won the award for Engaging Print! Our first ever award…our golden dreams have come true.”
The trio came out top in their category after show visitors and the industry voted on the finalists chosen by the panel of judges including Really Good and Soul founder David Hicks; Holly Tucker, co-founder of and Holly & Co; Selfridges buying manager Geraldine James, G.F Smith paper consultants Janet Stevens and Mark Jessett, and representatives from Present And Correct, Urbanic, West Elm and Fortnum’s.
All 170-plus greetings and stationery exhibitors at the three-day show, which opens on Sunday, January 14, at London’s Olympia, were eligible to enter the fourth edition of the G.F Smith-sponsored awards.
In addition to a prize each worth more than £1,000, the winners’ work will be showcased at Top Drawer in the Greetings & Stationery sector at the heart of the show, along with the other 15 finalists – Dandelion Stationery, Ola, Portico Designs, Wanderlust Paper Co, Wrap, Belly Button Designs, Esme, Pressed And Folded, Purpose & Worth Etc, Wolf & Ink, Alison Hardcastle, Lagom Designs, Noi Publishing, Rhombus & Pineapple, and Scribble And Daub.
The PaperAwards are an initiative by Top Drawer organisers Clarion Events to support and recognise the creativity and innovation of the greetings and stationery industry at the design-led exhibition.
