Seminar reveals Dulux’s 2019 colour of the year as event is great success

 

DISCUSSIONS on High Street trends, social media marketing and Dulux’s 2019 colour of the year made the Giftware Association’s first education event a resounding success.

Spiced Honey was revealed as the next big colour, with Dulux creative director Marianne Shillingford headlining the Trends Talks Day on September 27 at the GA’s Birmingham HQ, and explaining that optimism and togetherness are among the themes that influenced the choice.
With an impressive background in colour and design, Marianne talked the crowd through Spiced Honey’s four key components and palettes – Think Palette for spaces for calm, Dream Palette for spaces for succeeding, Love Palette for spaces for sharing and Act Palette for spaces for action – each with their own tones and end results that businesses can apply to products and gifts.
Kicking off the day was Michael Weedon, of High Street and retail commentators Exp2 and former British Independent Retailers’ Association chairman, with his facts and figures on the state of the British High Street.
Michael told a tale of hope and optimism, but also of action the Government need to take along with those who can effectively change the future of the High Street and make it a better place for business, which may involve a lot of adapting and improving in the ways people shop.
David Glenwright, from JC Social Media, educated the crowd on how best to use social media and the next big things businesses should be looking towards, with the key tip that you shouldn’t try to sell to potential customers, they will come to you if you post interesting relevant topics.
Positive feedback included Enveco’s comment: “All the speakers were of my interest and kept the relevant subjects fun.” And Heaven Sends said: “Very interesting and inspiring day. Loved the variety and depth of all the talks. Looking forward to the next trends seminar already!”

GA CEO Sarah Ward said: “It’s great to get so many people in a room together and taking the time out of their busy schedules, we know with Christmas coming up it’s a busy time of the year, but the amount of knowledge imparted by the speakers was amazing and ensured that this event was well worth the journey to our offices.
