Mugs pay off

Cherry Orchard expand licensing deal for most successful new product launch

CHERRY Orchard MD Jackie Collins’ recent foray into licensing has given the publishers their most successful new product launch and she has now extended the deal.

Having been looking for strong humour range for a while, Jackie and sales director Fi Douglass-Gibson saw Wot A Mug’s range of cards and mugs at Spring Fair.
And they agreed with founder Rebecca Exton-Russell to distribute the mischievous cards with their striking monotone graphics, and slightly cheeky, mildly rude, blunt captions, under licence, and have just taken on the matching mugs too.
“The response we’ve had to the range has just blown us away,” said Jackie, “with stockists jostling for exclusivity in their area and retailers telling us their customers are buying these cards up to five or six at a time.
“We’re doing our best to get the word out there that pre-orders are being taken now so no one needs miss out on the mugs.
“They’ll make ideal Christmas presents, with today’s focus on moving away from non-reusable cups in coffee shops. At just £6.99 RRP, they are perfect gift-for-under-a-tenner products.”
In what turned out to be the most successful new product launch for Cherry Orchard where they showcased the range at PG Live, the second step of the process was to complete the deal to take the mugs on board as well.
They now have a range of 80 cards plus 28 mugs, which come with a free gift box, and Christmas designs have also been added.
