Caterpillar window earns Celebrations free stock in Rainbow’s competition

CELEBRATIONS Of Stourbridge got all visual recently and their efforts paid off as they won Rainbow Designs window display competition marking The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s 50th birthday.

The greetings and gift retailers were among many across the country who made the effort using POS materials from the licensed plush toys and character stationery suppliers, along with their products.
Store manager Roger Eames said: “We are so excited to have won The Very Hungry Caterpillar window competition – we celebrated with a cocktail at the Savoy while we were in London!”
Known as The Home Of Classic Characters, Rainbow ran two competitions recently promoting much-loved children’s book characters The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by Eric Carle, and David McKee’s patchwork elephant Elmer, who is 30 years old.
Rainbow MD Anthony Temple said: “There were some truly magnificent and colourful window displays lining the High Street during the month of May. All the entries were highly creative and showed some well-dressed displays, it was an extremely close-run race on both competitions.”
The Elmer display was won by Giddy Goat Toys in Manchester, and owner Amanda Alexander said: “We’re delighted. We love Rainbow Designs’ range of toys, they’re great quality and their plush Elmer is really soft, it’s been a consistent good seller in our shop since we opened in 2012 and we love that the Elmer books celebrate diversity, friendship and fun.”
Both winners will receive free Rainbow stock as their prize, and the company’s sales manager Mark Standen added: “We were delighted with how many of our retailers embraced the opportunity and joined in with the fun. It was a great way to celebrate the milestone birthdays of these much-loved characters that really have stood the test of time.”
