Glee-ful debut for Laura and Jonny

Publishers expand exhibitors’ roster as garden exhibition kicks off tomorrow

LAURA Darrington and Jonny Javelin are among a number of publishers making their debut at Glee, the garden, leisure, equipment exhibition which kicks off at Birmingham’s NEC tomorrow.

Running over three days, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, September 10-12, Glee is billed as the UK’s most valuable garden and outdoor living trade show, with eight edited sectors.
Home, Gift & Clothing is a tailored sector featuring an array of garden gift and product ideas, from candles to garden games, and includes greetings cards aimed at buyers from multiples and independents looking to diversify their offer.
Alongside Laura Darrington Design (stand 19L19) and Jonny Javelin (7J92), the new greetings exhbitors include 1 Tree Cards (19C64), Hannah Marchant Illustrates (19B70), Tracks Publishing (6N90), Twizler (6Q92) and Woodmansterne (19K32), while Abacus Cards and sister company Clare Maddicott Publications return on stand (8C50-D51), but long-time Glee exhibitors Great British Card Company have pulled out this year following the publishers’ rescue from administration by Ling Design owners Swan Mill.
Glee’s 2019 seminar and content programme has some very exciting topics and panel discussions on the agenda, where visitors and exhibitors can gain valuable tips and tricks about how to better sell, market and propel their business forward.
Greetings Today regular columnist and independent retail advisor Henri Davis has two appearances in The Retail Growth Theatre, speaking on Getting The Most Out Of New Ranges at 11am on Wednesday, and Negotiation Skills: If You Don’t Ask You Don’t Get at 10.30am on Thursday.
And tomorrow sees a panel discussion exploring the value of a community feel in garden centres and how this can translate to commercial success at 12.30pm, with another discussion at 11.45am on Wednesday on Reducing Plastic Use: Industry Perspectives.
