Teams stamp mark on cricket

England’s World Cup winners commemorated with special stamps and post boxes

SPECIAL stamps commemorating the England men’s and women’s cricket teams’ World Cup wins have been revealed today, Wednesday, August 28 – as Royal Mail also unveil commemorative post boxes.

Marking the first time the teams have held both the ICC Cricket World Cup trophies simultaneously, the eight Special Stamps come in two miniature sheets retailing at £4.60 each with a pair of first class and two £1.60 value stamps.
Images on the men’s miniature sheet each capture a moment of celebration following England’s thrilling World Cup Final victory against New Zealand at Lord’s Cricket Ground in July this year, with the women’s stamps featuring their 2017 triumph against India.
The stamps can be pre-ordered now at or on 03457 641641, and will be on general sale from September 26.
As part of their ongoing celebration of sporting victories and achievements for all the UK’s home nations, Royal Mail have also decorated 13 special edition post boxes at the venues used in the tournaments, plus a spot picked by England men’s captain Eoin Morgan in London, while women’s team leader Heather Knight has chosen a site in Plymstock, Devon.
The first post box painted was outside Lord’s where both sold-out finals were held, and the livery will be in place for three months complemented with a permanent gold plaque. The others are in Bristol, Cardiff, Chester-Le-Street, Derby, Edgbaston, Headingley, London The Oval, Manchester, Southampton, Taunton and West Bridgford, Notts.
